Next, go to C:/Program Files (x86)/Steam/steamapps/common/Yakuza Kiwami 2/data and find the "ui.par" file (It might just be called "ui" for some, but make sure it's a PAR file type) Before doing anything else, back up the ui.par file by copying it and pasting it somewhere else on your PC, in case something goes wrong, or if you'd like to use Playstation buttons later for whatever reason. I was originally going to upload a link to a google drive with the textures folder with the new buttons, so you can easily replace the one the game already has, but I'm not entirely sure if that's legal or not, so I'd rather not risk it and just say how to do everything.įirstly, you'll want to download and extract Partool which is what we'll be using to actually get into the textures of the game. I basically just replaced all the PS4 button icons with the Xbox icons in the texture files. The solution that worked for me was way more manual than I expected, but it fixed everything. Got it, I'll post it here, then maybe the word can spread to others with this issue. To clarify, it'll give me Xbox button icons (which are what I need), then one minute later it'll switch to PS4 button icons (which are problem) and gives me the Square issue in the screenshot below. I'm not sure if the game is corrupted by some means or if there's something I'm missing, but nothing I've researched seems to give me a solution. Even if I strictly use PS4 Controller support and using the DS4 button layout, the game still gives me these squares. I've been fuddling around with Steam Controller Settings, using Xbox Support and PS4 Support and it'll switch to the Xbox controller icons, but then switch back to DS4 button icons moments later with Squares everywhere. It's worked perfect for 0 and Kiwami 1, but Kiwami 2 is registering as if it's a Dualshock 4 controller, and looking at the controller settings, well. Usually with the Pro Controller, the game gives me the Xbox button icons, which is fine and I can adjust as so. So, I've been using a Switch Pro Controller for all of my Yakuza games.
